In terms of Section 59 of the Labor Act[28:01] as read with the first schedule and Section 32 of S.I. 45 of 1993 this Council is the official body for governing the conditions of service of all employees in the commercial services sectors, except management itself.

These sectors include not only Agents, Micro-finance, Operations of Building Societies, Finance excluding business for commercial bank for which the employer is required to register in terms of the banking act, Chapter 188, Retailers and Wholesalers, but also Accountants, Advertising Agencies, Business and Professional Associations, Cinemas, Commercial Colleges, Computers services, Consultants, Dentists, Dry Cleaning, Employment Agencies, Estate Agents, Opticians, Photographers, Repair Services, Shows, Travel Agents, Typing and Duplicating Service and Veterinary Services.

All employers in these sectors are legally required to register with the Council. We therefore enclose a registration form which must be completed and returned to P.O.Box 1620 within 30 days. Immediately upon registration you must buy the Collective Bargaining Agreement which includes the code of conduct for the commercial sectors. This book can be obtained through all our Regional Offices.

You will also be sent instruction on how you are too collect and submit to Council the Monthly levy payable by employees together with a matching amount payable by yourself.
